Meet The Staff

High School Director

Mr. David Waters received his bachelors and Masters Degrees from the University of North Alabama. While at UNA, David was the section leader for many years while writing and arranging the percussion music for the marching band. He was a member of the Phantom Regiment drums and bugle corps and was an instructor with the Southwind drums and bugle corps. David also served as adjunct faculty at the University of North Alabama in 1997-2001.

Under his instruction, the Muscle Shoals High School percussion section has received numerous awards in both the marching and concert settings. The percussion section had enjoyed recent competitive success in WGI with the concert percussion ensemble winning 2 gold medals, silver, and bronze medal in just 4 years as members of WGI. The marching percussion consistently receives superior ratings and first class awards. David is a 5 year member of the WGI advisory board. David also received the Outstanding Percussion Educator award voted from his peers throughout the Southeastern United States in 2011.

    David is an endorsed educator  by Vic Firth stick company, Pearl and Adams percussion, and the Remo corporations. David is also a member of MENC, ABA, Shoals Area Directors, and PASIC. 

    David has served as the assistant director for Muscle Shoals High and Middle School the past thirteen years.  He was named head director for the Muscle Shoals band program in 2012.  David is married to Christy Corble Waters and they have a four year old daughter, Emmie Beth. He is an avid angler, hunter, and loves to play golf.
